The Building Expertise in Administration and Management (BEAM) Certificate Program is an online, self-directed course geared specifically towards early to mid-career public health professionals. BEAM is an interactive, non-credit bearing, online certificate program focused on the development of skills related to the budgeting, financing, and management of public health programs. It can be completed on your own schedule.
2. What is a University of Miami certificate program?
A University of Miami Certificate program is a non-credit program that includes a series of modules packaged together to address specific professional skills. Successful completion of a certificate program, which includes an exam, will result in the award of a University of Miami certificate.

The BEAM Certificate Program was developed to enhance the foundational business skills of early to mid-career public health professionals. The Program will build strategic skills that complement your current skills and will increase your competitiveness in the workplace.

The BEAM Certificate Program is an excellent program for non-profit or non-governmental public health professionals looking to develop their foundational business skills. However, most examples and studies are drawn from governmental public health scenarios
5. What is the time investment?
The on-line content of the BEAM Program is 20-25 hours. It should take you less than 3 months to complete the Program but it can be completed more quickly than that.
6. Program Format and Location
The certificate program is completed completely online. It is a self-paced curriculum where students can log into the University of Miami courses blackboard system and complete BEAM program modules as time permits within the 3-month cohort period.
7. What can I do after earning the certificate?
Students who complete the BEAM Certificate Program will have an understanding of basic budgeting in public health, finance, accounting, contracts, process management, and strategic thinking. These skills can be implemented and used immediately in their job function and public health business processes.
8. What are the requirements to earn the certificate?
There are no pre-requisites to enroll in the certificate program. Students enrolled in a Bachelor of Public Health or Masters of Public Health can enroll in the BEAM Certificate program that will provide added value to their ongoing public health training.
