Students planning to take a course outside the DPHS at another UM department, and wishing to have the credits count towards their Public Health degree, must request authorization (complete the form) as soon as possible and at least 3 weeks PRIOR to enrolling in a course. Students must discuss their intentions with their Academic Faculty Advisor to determine public health relevance, professional fit, and that course is not offered in the department. Student must obtain advisor approval and signature prior to requesting the approval from the department. These courses may only count as "elective" and there is a cap.
Students must follow the INSTRUCTIONS on the form, complete one (1) form per course requested, collect the required documents, and submit for approval the complete packet as outlined in the instructions prior to taking said course. After completing the approved course, students must follow instructions on the form to petition a transfer of credits. Students admitted in the Academic Year 2020-2021 and forward may have restrictions on courses from outside institutions.
