    ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals for America) Scholarship

    • Purpose: ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals For America) was the first national Latino professional association in the United States, established in Los Angeles in 1972. Throughout their 47-year history they have experienced steady growth and demonstrated consistent value. ALPFA continues to build upon its proud legacy with a mission: To empower and develop Latino men and women as leaders of character for the nation, in every sector of the global economy. The ALPFA currently serves more than 95,000+ professional and student members across the country – a number we plan to grow aggressively to 100,000 within the next two years. In addition to networking and professional leadership development opportunities, their members have access to 50,000 paid summer internships through hundreds of Fortune 1000 corporate partners. They aspire to be the business partner of choice for companies seeking to hire and develop Latino talent.
    • Funds: $1,250 to $10,000 annually, non-renewable. The majority of scholarships are $1,250, with outstanding students being awarded $10,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,625.

    • Premium ALPFA National student member of any race, ethnicity or nationality

    • A degree seeking student enrolled full time at a two-year college, four-year university, or graduate program in the United States or Puerto Rico

    Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship

    • Purpose: Since 1995, SHAPE America has awarded scholarships to outstanding undergraduate and graduate student members majoring in the field of health, physical education, recreation or dance. The Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship, developed by the past presidents of SHAPE America to honor deserving students, is awarded to three undergraduate students and two graduate students in January of each year. All scholarships are presented at the SHAPE America National Convention & Expo held in the spring.
    • Awards: Graduate awards are $1,750 each. Recipients also receive a complimentary three-year SHAPE America membership.
    • Eligibility:
      • Applicant must be a current member of SHAPE America. Graduate students may join at the time of application.
      • Applicant must be majoring in the field of health, physical education, recreation or dance.
      • Applicant must be enrolled in a matriculated full‐time masters or doctoral program.
      • Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 overall on a 4.0 grade point scale. The following guidelines should be used when reporting the GPA:
        • First semester Master’s and Doctoral candidates: GPA based on most recent degree obtained. GPA scores from all institutions attended in pursuit of applicant’s most recent degree must be factored into the overall GPA.
        • Master’s/Doctoral candidates beyond first semester: GPA based on applicant’s current program.
        • GPA scores from all institutions attended in pursuit of applicant’s current degree must be factored into the overall GPA.
      • Applicant must be a first time Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship recipient.
      • Previous recipients of SHAPE America’s National Presidential Scholarship are ineligible.
    • Application Requirements:
      • Complete the scholarship application (vitae will not be accepted) and email the form and all required documentation noted in Items 2 through 5 below to Patti Hartle at phartle@shapeamerica.org.
      • The following items must be provided in a Microsoft Word or PDF format.
        • Provide a letter from your school’s dean or registrar indicating full‐time status.
        • Provide two letters of recommendation signed and titled which address all aspects of the selection criteria. Letters are limited to two pages each.
        • Provide a scanned copy of official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.
        • Provide a biographical sketch to be used for publication and for the official convention award presentation.

    R&D Systems Scholarship

    • Purpose: R&D Systems is proud to support education in science with a scholarship program established to students who are pursuing a degree in a science related field. The R&D Systems Scholarship Program will be awarded to students pursuing a degree in a science related field.
    • Funds: A $1,500 (or international currency equivalent) scholarship will be awarded twice a year for one student in the fall semester and one student in the spring semester. *US, Canada, and European Countries only
    • Eligibility:
      • Applicants must have a major declared in a science related field (Life Science, Medical Science, Health Science)
      • Open to all levels of education above high school
      • Open for students studying in a college/university within the US, Canada, and European Countries only.
      • Enrolled or accepted for enrollment at time of application (baccalaureate, graduate, associate degree, or diploma).

  • Financial Need

    Robert (Bob) Moses Scholarship

    • Purpose: This annually awarded national scholarship is designed to support the educational goals of a graduate student from an underrepresented group who is pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in mathematics education or a STEM discipline. The individual should also have a commitment to civic engagement. The inaugural scholarship is named in honor of the late Bob Moses, a pioneering civil rights leader and educator who founded The Algebra Project, a national U.S. mathematics literacy program aimed at helping low-income students and students of color achieve the mathematical skills in high school that are a prerequisite for success in college and beyond.
    • Funds: $15,000
    • Number of Awards: 1
    • Eligibility:
      • enrolled as a master’s or doctoral student in good standing at a public or private U.S. university during the 2022–2023 academic school year
      • demonstrates leadership abilities and commitment to community service
      • demonstrates financial need
      • is a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
    • Application Requirements:
      • a one-page statement outlining financial need
      • the official transcript for your most recently completed academic term; this should include your Fall 2022 grades and cumulative GPA
      • two recommendation letters (one should be from a school advisor or the chair of the dissertation committee)
      • two original essays, answering the following essay questions (maximum of 500 words per question):

    – Describe how your approach to learning is aligned with the work of Bob Moses.

    – Tell us a bit about yourself, your background, why you should be awarded the Robert (Bob) Moses Scholarship and how this scholarship will help you support underserved communities

    Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarship

    • Purpose: The Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives established this scholarship in honor of Foster G. McGaw, the founder of the American Hospital Supply Corporation. This scholarship is offered to provide financial aid to students in healthcare management graduate programs to help offset tuition costs, student loans and expenses.
    • Funds: $5,000
    • Number of Awards: 15 scholarships (between this scholarship and the Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarship)
    • Eligibility Requirements:
      • You are a student enrolled full-time in a healthcare management graduate program - MHA, MPH, MBA in Healthcare Administration or similar.
      • You are entering your final year (fall/spring) of full-time study.
      • You expect to graduate between Sept. 1, 2023 and Aug. 31, 2024. If you have a residency as part of your program and the upcoming fall term will be your second year of study, you may apply for a scholarship. If you have already completed your classroom work and are in the residency part of your program, you are not eligible to apply. If you currently hold a paid healthcare management position, you are not eligible to apply. Doctoral students are also not eligible to apply.
      • You are not required to be a Student Associate of the American College of Healthcare Executives. However, during the selection process, preference is given to applicants who are Student Associates of ACHE.
      • You can demonstrate financial need.
      • You are a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; or a Canadian citizen.
      • You are not a previous recipient of this scholarship or the Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship.

    Vivian Drenckhahn Student Scholarship

    • Purpose: This $2,500 scholarship is awarded annually to three deserving full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are national SOPHE members and who have excelled academically, demonstrated a commitment to addressing the public’s health through a career in health education, and who have demonstrated financial need. Students applying for this award must currently be pursuing a health education degree (e.g., health education, community health education, public health education, school health education), and must have completed at least one-third of the coursework required for their major.
    • Funds: $2,500
      • Individuals will also receive a 21st Century Scholarship to attend the SOPHE Annual Conference; $800 (in-person) or $400 (digital).
    • Number of Awards: 3
    • Eligibility:
      • Evidence of current enrollment as a full time undergraduate or graduate student (at least 9 credits for graduate students or proof that they are full-time) pursuing a health education degree (e.g., health education, community health, education, public health education, school health education)
      • Must provide a copy of the "degree requirements" for the program of study
      • Must present a current, official transcript including course titles
      • Letter of recommendation from a faculty mentor that describes
        • Nominee's commitment to the pursuit of a degree in health education
        • Nominee's academic qualifications of applicant
        • Nominee's service activities related to health education
      • Written statement from the student applicant (not to exceed two pages, double-spaced, at least 10 pt. font) addressing:
        • Issues impacting the future of health education
        • Nominee's perceived roles or desires for contributing to the resolution of these issues

      • Demonstrated financial need as verified by the completion of the "SOPHE Vivian Drenckhahn Student Scholarship Demonstrated Financial Need Form." The form should be completed and signed by either the department chair or financial aid office and either stamped with department/institution seal or attached to official institution letterhead.
      • National or chapter SOPHE Membership at the time of application (visit http://www.sophe.org to join). SOPHE staff to ensure that members are in good standing.
      • One may not re-apply for this award if ever won. However, there is no limit to nominator submissions.

  • Merit Based

    David A. Winston Health Policy Fellowship

    Funding Amount: Up to (20) awards of $10,000

    • Purpose: The David A. Winston Health Policy Scholarship identifies and supports promising young people committed to a health policy-related master’s degree in any discipline, field, or profession from any school or program that is housed in an accredited college or university. We seek to increase the number and quality of individuals trained in these fields at the state and federal levels by awarding deserving students with financial support to further their education. The scholarship program recognizes student excellence and achievement based on that student’s record and recommendations from faculty and colleagues.
    • Funds: $10,000
    • Number of Awards: Up to 20
    • Eligibility:
      • Current first year graduate students in their second full-time equivalent semester or third full-time equivalent quarter for those in two-year programs or for those in longer programs, their next to final year, studying at any accredited college or university.
      • Applicants must be scheduled to complete the didactic portion of their degree not later than December of the year following the awarding of the scholarship.
      • S. citizenship is required.
      • Scholars are selected based on expressed and demonstrated commitment to improvement of the U.S. health care system, as well as leadership, academic achievement, community involvement and long-term career interest in the fields of health policy, public health, heath administration and/or health management.
      • Applicants from health policy, public policy, health administration, business, economics, and law graduate programs (e.g. MPH, MPP, MHA, MBA, MA, JD) as well as joint degree programs (e.g. JD/MPH) are strongly encouraged to apply.
      • In honoring the legacy of David Winston, students of all political ideological perspectives are encouraged to apply. The scholarship embodies Mr. Winston's commitment to public/private partnerships necessary for a high quality healthcare system, bipartisan collaboration in achieving health policy goals as well as an appreciation of the roles of both the government and the private sector in achieving those goals.
    • Application Requirements:
      • A resume detailing both professional and extracurricular activities.
      • A personal statement detailing the applicant’s interest in and commitment to health policy and how they intend to pursue policy within their career. This statement should be roughly one and one half single-spaced pages in length and should provide detail on what experiences in your life have directed you towards a career in health policy and what your future career aspirations are. The statement should outline how your academic preparation has and will continue to prepare you for a career in health policy.
      • Undergraduate and graduate registrar-issued transcripts (at least one full-time equivalent semester of graduate work in health management or health policy must appear on the graduate transcript). All transcripts from all higher education institutions attended are required and must arrive by April 7, 2023, 5pm PT.
      • Two letters of nomination. One letter must be from a faculty member in your degree program. The second letter must be from a preceptor or employer. Both letters should be on letterhead, signed, and speak specifically to your qualifications for this scholarship.

    HaPI Measurement Scholarship

    • Purpose: Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HaPI) is a bibliographic database that contains over 232,000 records providing detailed, comprehensive information about health and psychosocial measurement tools across diverse disciplines and professions. For nearly four decades, HaPI has been the premier instrument database for behavioral measurement instruments in the fields of medicine, nursing, psychology, public health, social work, counseling, communication, and sociology. The HaPI database is produced by Behavioral Measurement Database Services (BMDS). BMDS is now inviting applications for a $500 merit-based HaPI Measurement Scholarship, to be awarded up to twice a year to selected graduate students, to support their master’s thesis, dissertation or other research in the health or psychosocial sciences.
    • Funds: $500 to be awarded up to twice a year
    • Eligibility: Any U.S.-based graduate student in the health or psychosocial science fields (e.g., psychology, counseling, sociology, social work, nursing, public health) who is in their 2nd year or beyond is eligible to apply for a HaPI Measurement Scholarship.
    • Application Requirements:
      • A proposal in a single document (not to exceed 5 single-spaced pages, one-inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font) explaining: (a) their academic background and interests; (b) the research project they are planning to conduct including rationale, methods, and potential contributions to theoretical and/or practical issues; (c) how the award would advance completion of the project; and d) a budget listing the proposed expenditures and approximate costs of each (total not to exceed $500.00);
      • Contact information for the student’s master’s or doctoral thesis advisor or research supervisor;
      • A letter of recommendation from the student’s faculty advisor or research supervisor commenting on the merits of the applicant and project.

    James M. & Erma T. Freemont Foundation Scholarship Program

    • Purpose: The Freemont Foundation Scholarship Program is available to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. Through generous donations, the Foundation is able to provide scholarships to outstanding students, the "Freemont Scholars". It is the duty of our dedicated Board of Directors to determine the most outstanding individuals to receive these awards. Freemont Scholars are selected from a nationwide pool of applicants.  The Freemont Foundation awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students with a record of leadership and volunteerism in the community and participation in extracurricular school activities.
    • Deadline: The 2023-24 Freemont Foundation Scholarship Program will open for applications in November.

  • Research Based 

    Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship

    • Purpose: The Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the Guttmacher Institute, supports emerging leaders in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights. Established in 2014 in honor of Cory L. Richards, a leading figure in the field whose remarkable career at the Guttmacher Institute spanned nearly four decades, the scholarship reflects what was for him a core commitment: nurturing the development of new leaders. It does so by providing financial support to students who plan to devote their careers to advancing public policy related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, and who are seeking advanced degrees in public health or public policy. Each year, up to two individuals are chosen as Cory Richards Scholars and awarded a one-time scholarship of $15,000 each to support full-time or part-time graduate study at an accredited institution in the United States. In keeping with the Institute’s and Cory’s dedication to equalizing opportunity, priority is given to students with demonstrated financial need.
    • Funds: $15,000 each
    • Number of Awards: Up to 2
    • Eligibility:
      • Be entering or currently enrolled in a full-time or part-time graduate study program at an accredited institution in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year
      • Be pursuing a master’s degree in public policy or public health
      • Be planning to pursue a career in advancing public policy related to sexual and reproductive health and rights
      • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
    • Application Requirements
      • Applications comprise a personal essay and an answer to a short-response question, in addition to materials describing an individual’s:
        • Academic record
        • Leadership and participation in school and community activities
        • Honors
        • Work experience
      • Applicants selected as finalists will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation and a college transcript.
    • Deadline: March 15, 2023 through May 15, 2023, 3 p.m. CT

    NEHA/AAS Scholarships

    • Purpose: By offering the NEHA/AAS Scholarships to eligible undergraduate and graduate students, we hope to positively contribute to the future of environmental health. The scholarship program aims to encourage early commitment by students to pursue a career in environmental health.
    • Graduate Funds: $3,750
    • Number of Awards: 1
    • Eligibility:
      • Be an undergraduate or graduate student
      • Be enrolled in an accredited college or university, with a dedicated and recognized curriculum in environmental health sciences
      • Have at least one semester of coursework remaining
      • Preference is given to applicants who indicate that they intend to work as environmental health professionals and not in related fields.
      • The graduate scholarship is to be used toward tuition and fees associated with graduate studies.
    • Application Requirements:
      • Complete the online application form
      • Provide an unofficial academic transcript from the school in which the applicant is currently enrolled
      • Submit one faculty letter of recommendation from the school in which the applicant is currently enrolled
      • Submit one letter of recommendation from an active NEHA member

    Student Scholarships in Cardiovascular Disease

    • Purpose: The scientific councils of the American Heart Association (AHA) want to stimulate interest, knowledge and investigative work in students in medicine, nursing, public health, nutrition and other allied health disciplines. AHA Student Scholarships support students conducting research projects related to cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, and stroke within basic, clinical, translational or population sciences early during pre-doctoral training, usually during the summer. Projects must be conducted under qualified supervision and each applicant and applicant's preceptor must be members of the AHA at the time of application. AHA scholarships provide valuable stipends for graduate-level or medical students during the research project. The scholarship stipends may be used for student expenses, lab fees, or other costs incurred by the student during the project.
    • Funds: $2,000 scholarship
    • Number of Awards: 1
      • The top recipient of the Student Scholarships in Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke will be designated the Howard S. Silverman Scholar. Dr. Silverman, despite severe heart problems, maintained a positive outlook, an active research program, and often served as mentor to medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows. The Howard S. Silverman Scholar will receive an additional $1,000 stipend.
    • Eligibility:
      • Eligible applicants include students in medical schools or in master's or equivalent programs in an accredited school in the United States where research training in cardiovascular disease and stroke is available.
      • MD/PhD and PhDs are ineligible unless the PhD was obtained previously in an area not related to basic sciences.
      • Each applicant and applicant's preceptor must be members of the AHA at the time of application.
      • The awards will be made to institutions within the United States in which the research training is available to students under qualified supervision. If the student conducts the research at a location other than his/her home institution, he/she must have written approval of his/her dean or other responsible individual.
    • Application Requirements:
      • Student Scholar Statement: The applicant must provide a thorough statement (minimum three pages, double-spaced) describing the purpose of the research project, the implications of the project, and what the student hopes to accomplish or discover during the research period. The statement must also include a list of relevant classes taken and current grade point average if GPA is used at the institution.
      • Preceptor Statement: The preceptor must provide a statement of the following:
        • A description of the proposed research program, including the facilities and personnel to be involved
        • A description of his or her responsibilities towards the student’s training, and other academic and administrative responsibilities
        • The duties and responsibilities of the student, the total duration and dates of the training period, and the specific education and training that will be provided
        • A listing of the preceptor’s research funding active during the proposed training period
        • A list of his/her trainees and project titles for the past five years
        • A description of the student selection process
        • Agreement (if selected) to accept responsibility for supervision of the project and to pay the entire scholarship amount to the Student Scholar as a stipend via his/her institution.
        • Any other supportive or referential information on behalf of the student
      • Student and preceptor curriculum vitae and bibliography: The applicant and preceptor must each provide an up-to-date curriculum vitae with full bibliography (if bibliography is applicable).
      • Up to three additional recommendation letters outside of the preceptor’s statement may be submitted in the file and are optional.
        • Reference letters should be from individuals familiar with the applicant's scientific interests, academic interests, and performance, research abilities, or a combination of these. The referent should address as many of these areas as possible regarding to the student. There is no specific format or page limitation for the letter.
        • Letters must be written on letterhead and each should include a signature before being given to the applicant (ideally in electronic/soft-copy). Note that any hard-copy letters will require scanning by the applicant to be uploaded into the Council Awards Application System and included with the application file.
        • Reference letters will not be accepted via postal mail or electronically separate from the application file. Any letters must be uploaded in the Council Awards Application System within the application file to be considered.
    • Deadline: TBA

    Student Scholarships in Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke

    • Purpose: The scientific councils of the American Heart Association (AHA) want to stimulate interest, knowledge and investigative work in students in medicine, nursing, public health, nutrition and other allied health disciplines.       • The preceptor and recipient of a Student Scholarship in Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke are encouraged to submit a co-authored abstract through the International Stroke Conference abstract submission site, which typically opens in May. The abstract must be submitted in accordance with the AHA/ASA abstract submission guidelines as outlined on the conference Web site. Scholarship recipients who are eligible for the ISC travel grant should send an email with proof of ISC registration and abstract acceptance by December 15.
      • A $750 travel stipend to attend and present at the AHA/ASA International Stroke Conference will be paid to recipients of the Student Scholarships in Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke upon verification of an abstract accepted to the AHA/ASA International Stroke Conference, pending verification of their attendance and submission of eligible receipts after the conference.
    • Eligibility:
      • Eligible applicants include students in medical schools or in master's or equivalent programs in an accredited school in the United States where research training in cardiovascular disease and stroke is available.
      • MD/PhD and PhDs are ineligible unless the PhD was obtained previously in an area not related to basic sciences.

    • Purpose: Patrick Woolley is passionate about the development of healthy communities. By using sustainable resources and food-access programs, cities and counties across the country can provide nutrition and activities to foster vibrant and growing communities. Uniquely motivated people are critical to local health initiatives like access to clean water or opportunities in community-level sports and outdoor events.

      • To qualify for the Healthy Communities Scholarship, an applicant must currently be enrolled in a course of study at any accredited community or junior college or an undergraduate or graduate degree program anywhere in the United States.     Florida Environmental Health Association - The Educational Scholarship Program

    • Purpose: The Educational Scholarship program is one of many avenues through which FEHA promotes education and professionalism in the field of Environmental Health. This program is designed to offer scholarships to students interested in pursuing a career in the field of Environmental Health, or to enhance an existing career in Environmental Health.

    • Purpose: Scholarships awarded annually to female international/DACA students who are currently enrolled or accepted to study full-time in a STEM degree program at a program MPOWER supports in the United States or Canada.

    Women's Overseas and Service League Scholarship for Women

    • Purpose: To financially assist women who have served overseas in or with the Armed Forces.

    Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship

    • Purpose: The Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives established this scholarship in honor of Albert W. Dent, the first African-American Fellow of ACHE. This scholarship is offered to provide financial aid to racially/ethnically students in healthcare management graduate programs to help offset tuition costs, student loans and expenses.
    • Funds: $5,000
    • Number of Awards: Between the McGaw and Dent scholarships, ACHE awards up to 15 scholarships each year.
    • Eligibility:
      • You are a racially/ethnically diverse student enrolled full-time in a healthcare management graduate program - MHA, MPH, MBA in Healthcare Administration or similar.
      • You are entering your final year (fall/spring) of full-time study.

If you have a residency as part of your program and the upcoming fall term will be your second year of study, you may apply for a scholarship.     The Dominican Day Parade, Inc.

    • Purpose: The Dominican Day Parade, Inc. is a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, that organizes the annual parade and festivities that promote the richness of the culture, folklore and popular traditions of the Dominican Republic. The organization strives to provide an understanding of the heritage and contributions of the Dominican community in the United States of America and throughout the world.
    • Eligibility: Understanding the value of education, the Dominican Day Parade takes great pride in providing scholarships and mentor opportunities to exceptional students of Dominican descent living in the United States. Through the funds raised from our annual gala, we granted $200,000 in scholarships in 2019, 2021, and 2022 to support awardees through college and post graduate institutions. Helping these promising young people continue to excel in their future ventures allows us to achieve our primary goal: to support and celebrate the Dominican community!

    CBC Spouses Education Scholarship

    • Purpose: This scholarship was established in 1988 by the spouses of Congressional Black Caucus members to address the educational need in the congressional districts in response to federal cuts in spending for education programs and scholarships, which disproportionately affect people of color. This opportunity awards scholarships to academically talented and highly motivated African-American or Black students pursuing an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degrees in a variety of fields.
    • Funds: Awards range from $2,500 – $20,000. The full award is disbursed once for the academic year directly to the academic institution of attendance. The award will apply evenly between the fall and spring semesters.

    • Purpose: The Ellis Bonner Award is a special category to recognize the distinguished leadership and academic achievement among Non-Traditional graduate students who are striving to become future leaders in Healthcare Management and NAHSE.

    Indian Health Service - Health Professions Scholarship

    • Purpose: The Health Professions scholarship provides financial aid to qualified American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate- and graduate-level students. Recipients must be members of federally recognized Tribes and enrolled in an eligible health profession degree program. In exchange for financial aid, scholarship recipients agree to fulfill a service commitment in full-time clinical practice upon completion of their academic or post-graduate clinical training.
    • Funds:
      • The IHS Scholarship Program provides financial aid covering tuition, required fees and other educational and living expenses.
      • Tuition and Required Fees
        • IHS makes direct payment to your school covering tuition and required fees for the academic year. Summer school is excluded unless specifically requested and approved in advance.
      • Living and Educational Expenses
        • IHS provides a monthly stipend of no less than $1,500/month to assist our scholarship recipients in covering living expenses. Stipends are distributed beginning in August and are paid at the end of each month. Preparatory and Pre-Graduate scholarship recipients receive a stipend for a 10-month period while Health Professions scholarship recipients receive a stipend for 12 months.
      • In addition, IHS includes a one-time payment for educational expenses as part of your first stipend deposit. This payment includes:
        • School-required books, laboratory expenses, dental/ medical/optometric/podiatric/nursing equipment and other miscellaneous educational expenses.

      • Any Native American U.S. citizen that is a member or descendant of a state or federally recognized tribe with at least a 2.0 grade point average, and enrolled as a full-time student can apply for a scholarship.

    • Purpose: The Against The Grain Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship provides financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college seniors and graduate students who have exhibited exemplary leadership, vision, and passion that is blazing a trail for others to follow and changing lives in the Asian American community.
    • Awards: $1,500 to be applied toward school tuition and fees

      • Must be of at least 25% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity

    AAHD Scholarship Program

    • Purpose: The AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability is awarded annually to deserving  students with a disability who are pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies (must be at least enrolled as a sophomore in college) in an accredited university and who are pursuing studies related to the health and disability, to include, but not limited to public health, health promotion, disability studies, disability research, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, special education and majors that will impact quality of life of persons with disabilities.

    • Number of Awards: It is the discretion of the Scholarship Committee to determine how many scholarships will be awarded each year and the amount of each scholarship.

      • Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and must have completed one full year of college or more. In other words, the applicant must have sophomore or greater status in a program at a college or university pursuing an undergraduate degree as of fall 2023; or enrolled part-time or full-time in a graduate school, pursuing a post graduate degree as of fall 2023.
      • Applicant must have a disability as defined by the American with Disabilities Act and must provide documentation to verify this.
      • Preference will be given to students majoring in public health, disability studies, health promotion or a field related to disability and health.

    JCFS Academic Scholarship 2022-2023

    • Purpose: We administer educational scholarship funds from the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago to help Jewish college and graduate students offset some of their financial burden. Assistance is available for those with financial need who are pursuing careers in the helping professions.

      • Are Jewish
      • Were born and raised in Chicago metropolitan area* (*Chicago metropolitan area includes Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties), including Lake County, Indiana; or had one continuous year of full-time employment in the Chicago metro area prior to enrollment

      • The scholarship award recipient will be asked to submit verification of enrollment for the Fall 2023 semester.
      • Preference is given to applicants planning to work in the Midwest—Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota or North Dakota.
      • For the Graduate Scholarship, applicants must:
        • At the start of the 2023-2024 academic year, have at least two full semesters (i.e., fall and spring semesters) left before graduating.
        • Have applied to, have been accepted into, or are currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program. Payment of the award will be contingent on the full admission of the candidate into the program.

    Catherine E. Philbin Public Health Scholarship

    • Purpose: To support graduate or undergraduate students residing in Massachusetts and majoring in Public Health.
    • Funds: $500

    • Eligibility: Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students maintaining legal residence in Massachusetts and pursuing study in Public Health.

    • Purpose: This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Taini Mae Kinney who wished to honor Taini’s kindness toward others.

    SALEM Health Career Scholarships

    • Purpose: The Salem Health Foundation, Salem Health West Valley Foundation, and the Salem Health Projects Committee fund this scholarship program, which supports members in our community that are pursuing a degree in the health care field. The foundations’ scholarship program began in 1968. Since then we have awarded nearly $3.5 million in scholarships. The Projects Committee also has a rich history of supporting students for more than 25 years.
    • Awards: Awards are subject to the number of qualified applicants and will not exceed $2,500 per applicant.
      • All awarded scholarship amounts will only be used for student’s tuition, fees, and books.
      • Awarded amounts are paid directly and only to the accredited college or university where applicant is enrolled.
      • All applicants must be enrolled at least part-time to qualify.
      • Awarded amounts are subject to change, if there is a change in an applicant’s original application.

      • At the time of application, applicant must either be accepted to or have applied to an accredited college or university; and

    The MSHF Academic Scholarship - The Ya Ne Dah Ah /K’tl’egh’i Sukdu Scholarship

    • Purpose: Mat-Su Health Foundation (MSHF) academic scholarships help defray the cost of higher education in degree programs in the fields of health and human services. Note: This page is for academic scholarships. If you are looking for a vocational scholarship for non-degree certificate and training programs, please visit the vocational scholarship page linked here. The goal of the Mat-Su Health Foundation scholarship program is to increase the health and human services workforce in the Mat-Su. Scholarship applications are evaluated based on career choice and financial need as demonstrated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
    • Eligibility:
      • United States citizenship or lawful permanent residency.
      • Mat-Su Borough residency for minimum of one year at the time of application.
      • Minimum half-time student status at an accredited college, university, or medical training program.
      • Interest in the fields of health care or human services as demonstrated by the applicant’s responses to questions posed in the application.
      • Successful completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
      • For first time applicants, there is no minimum GPA requirements. Note: While a threshold GPA is not required for first-time applicants, GPA is considered as a variable in scoring applications.
      • For previous scholarship recipients, a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are evaluating temporarily suspending this requirement for 2021. This may allow for consideration of the hardships the pandemic has presented to the learning environment. Therefore, even if your cumulative GPA is less than 3.0, we urge you to apply in case this suspension is approved. Previous scholarship recipients must provide an unofficial transcript of any college courses they have completed.

      • Proof of the Cost of Attendance for the school you plan to attend. This must include tuition, fees, books, room and board, etc. for the upcoming academic year. It can be in the form of a letter from the school you plan to attend or a screen shot from their website listing the official budget for Cost of Attendance, not to include summer course costs.     HIAS Immigration & Citizenship College Scholarship Program

    • Purpose: Since 1991, through the generosity of HIAS Immigration & Citizenship (HIAS)’s friends and supporters, HIAS has been fortunate to provide academic scholarships to an extremely impressive group of individuals who immigrated or whose family immigrated to the Chicago area with the assistance of HIAS or who accessed HIAS’ services once in the United States. These undergraduate and graduate scholarships include: the Benton-Bernstein Scholarship for those entering the helping professions; the Tilly Warshaw Scholarship for high school graduates; the Max and Anna Warshofsky Scholarship; the Michael Polsky Family Scholarship Funds for high school graduates and career enhancement; the Ruth Schultz Memorial Scholarship Fund; the Bernard Gordon Memorial Scholarship Fund; and funds contributed in loving memory of Beatrice Nessenson.

      • An individual who came to the United States with the assistance of HIAS Immigration & Citizenship; OR A U.S.-born child or grandchild of someone who immigrated to the United States with the assistance of HIAS Immigration & Citizenship; OR Someone who applied, or whose family applied, for Permanent Residency (i.e. a “Green Card") or citizenship with the assistance of HIAS Immigration & Citizenship.
      • Applicants must identify as Jewish
      • Have lived in the United States for a minimum of 2 years;
      • Demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, community service to the Jewish and broader communities, and a well-thought out educational plan
      • Plan to begin or continue undergraduate or graduate level education on a full-time basis in a four-year college or university in the 2022-2023 academic year.
